A strong earthquake in Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in terms of population, shook much of the country.
A magnitude 6.6 earthquake shook the Indonesian island of Java on Friday, according to the US Geological Survey. The epicenter was reported southwest of the island at a depth of 37 km.
According to foreign media, the quake was so strong that its tremors were also felt in the capital Jakarta. The quake in Java left buildings empty and people did not return to their homes for a long time.
The epicenter was reported below the ground, however; no tsunami alert was issued. No casualties were reported.
